SCCA RallyCross

SCCA RallyCross

I’ve been interested in learning more about RallyCross, a form of single stage loose-surface rally racing with a course delineated mostly by traffic cones.  It’s very accessible, and a great practice arena for stage rallies.  The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has a good description here:  https://www.scca.com/pages/what-is-rallycross. I drove to Hollytree, Alabama, not far from Huntsville, for the SCCA Tennessee Valley Region’s RallyCross #3 last weekend.  It was a lovely day and a beautiful venue, but they were a…

The National Corvette Museum and Assembly Plant Tour

The National Corvette Museum and Assembly Plant Tour

The National Corvette Museum and the  GM Corvette Assembly Plant are located in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Whether or not you’re a big Corvette fan, you can’t deny that they’re justifiably well-loved and iconic cars, and they have a great following in the US.  I’ve driven by a couple of times now, and finally decided to stop for a visit.  The timing was fortunate too, as the plant will be closed to tours starting in June, and only reopening in late…

Run for the Roses!… But not in High Heels

Run for the Roses!… But not in High Heels

Daniel Boone’s Grave…?

Daniel Boone’s Grave…?

The cemetery of Frankfort, Kentucky is a lovely creepy old place to visit on a rainy afternoon.  It’s lush and green, full of both old and new gravestones, and set high on a hill overlooking the Kentucky River and the Capitol Building.  (Did you know that Frankfort is the capitol of Kentucky?) My main reason for coming here while I was in the area was to visit the grave of Daniel Boone.  He was an iconic American pioneer and woodsman, most…

Kaizen in Kentucky

Kaizen in Kentucky

It may be obvious by now that I’m a fan of Toyotas.  In my opinion, they can’t be beaten for rock solid reliability, they seem to suit my size and driving habits, and I like the style lines of Toyotas.  All that for a rational price.  So when I was told by a friend that the largest Toyota factory outside of Japan was located in Georgetown, Kentucky, I had to go take a look. Cameras are not allowed on the tour, so…
